Why do veterans get so excited about N40 when they play bingo?

Well this may seem like a silly question, but I volunteer at the Veteran’s Hospital helping with bingo. Every time the guy yells out “N 40″ everyone gets all excited and yells it back. Is this just a bingo thing in general? Or is it specific to the Veterans? I just want to understand what’s happening better.

Thanks! :)

the “N” column in bingo is frequently “not needed” due to the pattern you’re using to try to get bingo. for example, when doing the “X formation” the only “N” that is used is the free space. so when the caller yells any “N” a lot of ppl will yell.

i’m not really sure if that has anything to do with veterans.
