To be honest next year will be my first year playing varsity football. I am a sophmore now. I am very quick and have good low center gravity. I want to have a fast 40 by my senior year.
I am 5-1 125 lbs. I am very short.

Have you tried using a training aid, such as the Wilson Running Speed Chute? This is a parachute type training aid that you wear as you run. It helps to increase your running speed.

The plyometrics answer is probably the best. If you have access to an older more traditional weight room, then any lift that works on calf strength is a good bet as well. If you have a traditional toe raise machine its great, but if not you can make due by using a hip sled and only lifting by flexing your foot.

your low center gravity is very good. A quick tip i learned from a lacrosse combine was tuck in the front part of your shirt 9 and only the front) into your shorts( im serious i shaved .2 off my time with just that) and another good step is give a big exhale on the first step. also make sure you get low on the start and get a good first step. Have a good and low posture. breathe. good luck.
