Hitler and NSDAP basically got scarred shitless when they saw communist atrocities in the east.
They pretty much thought western civilization would be over if Stalin would win the war.
So they had the idea of concentration camps, einsatzgruppen, etc…To overcounter Soviet atrocities by using even worse tactics…
Basically viewed from 1930 perspective Hitler had good reasons to do what he did.
Viewed from today from victors point of view obviously not.
