How much should I pay for a 40 ft silver maple to be removed?

This tree doesnt have much left as far as branches on it, but it leans to the alley, so I cant cut it down because I think the lean is too much to get the tree to fall in my yard. the tree only has one 2 foot wide branch left, that reaches the height of 40 feet but those are small branches. the base of this tree is about 3 1/2 to 4 foot wide.

Try Craigslist.org sometimes you can barter or some one will take the tree for free.
Use the free section and the barter section.
Good Luck, Chuck!

I know a guy who’ll do it for 10 bucks, a stout chicken, and a human finger (your pick).

YOU DIDN’T SAY IF YOU WANT THE ROOTS,ETC REMOVED. ABOUT $15.00 A FOOT HEIGHT, PLUS $200.00 FOR GRINDING OUT THE STUMP/ROOTS 2 FEET BELOW THE GROUND SURFACE, AND REMOVING ALL DEBRIS. A CITY PERMIT ALSO MUST BE OBTAINED. BE SURE THE CONTRACTOR HAS ADEQUATE INSURANCE IN FORCE TO PROTECT YOU, YOUR NEIGHBORS AND HIS EMPLOYEES.
